Why Astrology Can Give You Much More Than Your Horoscope

‘What’s your star sign?’  Most people know the answer to this question.  Many of them regularly read their horoscopes.  Some with hope, others with cynicism.

But, there is a whole lot more to astrology besides horoscopes.

What is really going on

The sky is like a great big mirror reflecting what is really going on for and around you.  This is the basic idea of astrology.

Astrology plugs you in to a much bigger picture of meaningful planetary cycles.  Observing these eternal planetary patterns provides invaluable insight and information.

This can be enormously helpful when you get stuck and need help to find your way through.  Sometimes, your usual problem-solving routes and resources are not enough.

There is more to astrology than you might think

An online or printed horoscope is inevitably a restricted view.  It is based on the position of the Sun on your date of birth in one of a dozen zodiac signs.

By contrast, an astrological consultation offers more detail and nuance by taking your date, time and place of birth into account.

A consultation draws on a map of at least ten planets in twelve signs, in twelve areas.  Each planet is more specifically located within one of the thirty degrees which each sign comprises.  The planets are linked by a minimum of five basic connecting patterns, operating in multiple combinations.  Various forecasting techniques add motion and timing to the mix.

There is more to come on all these essential factors in the coming weeks.

A tiny glimpse of what astrology can reveal

Let us imagine you are an Aries.  In other words, the Sun was in the part of the sky called ‘Aries’ on the day you were born.

Today, 20 March, is the first day that the Sun is in Aries this year, and where it will remain until 19 April 2016.

Your horoscope might describe you as an enterprising, ‘straight to the point’, go-getter.  That may be spot on.  Or, that description might not sound like you at all.

After all, horoscopes are a generalized kind of astrology.

If when you were born the Moon was in, say, the sign of Cancer, you are also emotionally sensitive and tend to respond indirectly.

The kind of Aries you are is shaped by the Moon, plus the other nine planets, along with the other key factors flagged above, and yet to be explored.

Look skyward

A private, one-on-one astrological consultation allows you to uncover a fuller reflection of the real you.  Seeing the whole of who you really are equips you to navigate your life experiences in much better ways.

Working with astrology in this way can be very rewarding.  The perspective, clarity and timing you gain goes far beyond the much more limited remit of horoscopes.

Next time you feel unsure or lost, look up to the sky and remember that whatever is happening is part of a bigger story.  Astrology is a great map for understanding what that is so that you can choose the best road ahead.
